Eve Novak has an unaffiliated appointment as the “Minister of Health Education and Welfare” in East-Western San Diego, where she is a dedicated practitioner of the Mothering arts and sciences. Holding an undergraduate degree in Nutrition Science from Bastyr University and a Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science from The Leadership Institute of Seattle, she applies her deep theoretical background to the development and maintenance of human subjects in the longitudinal pilot-study better known as life with a partner and two kids. She has loved tiny things since she was big enough for things to seem tiny, and she only occasionally looks at little things through the lens of behavioral science. She spends her time searching for new avenues of creative expression. She has been a dioramand (one who dioramas) with The Laura Ingalls Wilder Diorama Club Jubilee since 2007 and is a life-long paper-crafter, scratch-n-sniff sticker-lover, re-purposer, carpenter, holiday card and invitation designer, sewist, traveler and scribbler. Her archive as an early contributor to Ocho Y Media, A women’s discussion group and action circle, part of the feminist element of the 1990s punk scene in San Diego is searchable in deep storage at the Smithsonian (https://sova.si.edu/record/NMAH.AC.1473). Knowledge of her deep connection with domestic dogs has been passed down from generation to generation in the canine oral tradition both locally and abroad. Her favorite phrases are “Oh! My dog doesn’t usually like people” and “Quel Surprise! D’habitude mon chien n’aime pas les gens”. She keeps extra copies of The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery and Lets Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson on her bookshelf to give out to strangers. Read them!
